Placing adults at the heart of our work

We are looking for a Social Care Assessor who shares our values and commitment and are passionate about improving the lives of our local residents.

We currently have a Social Care Assessor vacancy within our Hospital Social Work team in Richmond. The team’s Social Care Assessors play a crucial role in assessing and reviewing the social care needs of adults with a focus to provide a holistic, personalised service to residents over the age of 18 who have physical disabilities and older people with mental health disabilities. We would like to hear from people who are passionate about delivering the best services to eligible adults.

Your duties will include:

* undertaking assessments of individual and carers needs and risks to encourage independence, provide support and prevent harm.

* working in partnership with adults service users and carers using a person-centred approach, with the aim of maximising independence, wellbeing and choice

Richmond and Wandsworth Councils have new exciting opportunities to join our fast paced and innovative new Front Door team. As part of our Transformation Programme, we’re changing the way we work and need dynamic and forward-thinking people to join us. We’re adopting a strengths-based approach to meet the needs of our residents by focusing on having good conversations with people and their support networks. As the first point of contact with adult social care, the aim of the team is to:

  • Enhance people’s abilities and community assets through prevention
  • Use a strengths based approach
  • Be visible in the community by ensuring a place based and multidisciplinary team approach
  • Use digital technology to engage, enable and empower people

By building the capacity of our residents, we empower and support them to do more for themselves and live independently for longer.

We're looking for people who have a passion to make a positive difference in people’s lives in our community. Joining us means you'll be part of a committed, flexible and proud team.

At Richmond and Wandsworth Councils, we care more about how you work and what you achieve, rather than where you work on any given day. The difference you can make to our local communities is what really matters most to us, service delivery must always come first. We have carefully considered agile ways of working to provide the best experience for residents, stakeholders and our staff. Our agile working strategy actively supports and encourages a dynamic work environment and daily working experience. Agile working helps put the needs of our staff at the centre of everything we do, so if specific flexible working arrangements helps you with this, feel free to let us know.

Your wellbeing and the flexible way in which you can work is and will remain a key priority for Richmond and Wandsworth Councils. We want you to thrive and feel empowered in your work!

We recognise the importance of a good balance between work and home life so we do everything we can to accommodate flexible working. Please just let us know in your application or at any stage throughout the process (and beyond) if these are options you’d like to explore. We also offer a generous holiday allowance of 39 paid days (pro rata) including bank holidays and a wide range of learning and development opportunities.

In addition, we offer a comprehensive range of staff benefits such as membership of the Local Government pension scheme, childcare vouchers, new technology scheme, interest-free loans on annual travel cards, discounts with many leisure activities, restaurants, shops and other establishments.
