Information & Support Coordinator - Ukrainian Children & Families

JOB PURPOSE:

  • To support the tracking, identification and monitoring of children and young people from the Ukraine who are at risk of not receiving the appropriate level of education in line with the local authority’s statutory duties   
  • To work across the service, department and with partners to ensure the educational needs of children and their families are clarified, and responses are coordinated

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or demonstrable multi-agency experience evidenced against the headings below
  • A good understanding and working knowledge of the safeguarding agenda
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Access and excel
  • Able to prioritise a demanding workload, taking a consistent approach to responding to children, young people, their families and other professionals
  • Able to follow procedures and guidelines and understand the importance of keeping up to date and accurate records
  • A sound communicator, able to convey important information to a range of different audiences which might include children and young people, parents, and professionals from a range of agencies
  • Confident in own abilities and able to work with minimum supervision, but also able to recognise where support is needed
  • Experience of working in a environment dealing with sensitive and confidential information
  • Experience of providing telephone support and advice to families, asking the right questions to get information required
  • Experience of working in multi-agency environment which involves working in collaboration and partnership with colleagues from a range of agencies and services
  • Experience of working in children or family services within health, social care or education context. This may be in either a statutory provider setting or voluntary/community sector
  • Experience of providing administrative support to a service or programme
  • Experience of working within performance framework which focuses on the outcomes achieved through activities
  • Experience of applying threshold criteria to individual cases, of challenging inconsistency, and ensuring that written procedures and guidelines are followed appropriately
