We are looking to recruit a hard-working and motivated Economic Programmes Officer to support the delivery of the Accountable Body function and support the Programme Management Office function for a variety of externally funded programmes, which will deliver sustainable economic growth in Cumbria.

This role is a key post within the Economic Development service, and you will work to ensure consistent and quality service, delivering programme objectives through monitoring progress and performance. The team is flexible and team members work across the Directorate’s full portfolio.

The Role

The right candidate will work with partner organisations to support delivery of projects and applicants through the external funding journey. You will be in a great position to directly improve outcomes for the people of Cumbria and the right candidate will provide support to the establishment, coordination, management and delivery of specific projects and programmes.

Under the direction of the Lead Officer – Economic Programmes, you will progress projects through appraisal, approval, and to financial completion, advising colleagues of potential risks. This post will involve liaising with key partners, providing consistent, impartial and timely information and analysis in recommendations on decisions and suggested grant conditions to Accountable Body and appropriate boards.

Who we are looking for

The successful applicant will have considerable experience of working on funding programmes. You will be a proven project officer, with knowledge of the full programme/project lifecycle, from appraisal to completion, and will have experience in due diligence programme budget monitoring and compliance monitoring.

An ability to work systematically and effectively prioritise tasks is essential, as well as having experience of engaging and working with external partners. Ideally, you will be adaptable and able to thrive in an ever-changing working environment, as well as comfortable managing change. You will also be committed to organisational learning and developing colleagues.
