Service Manager – Inclusion and Assessment

Employer
Wakefield Council
Location
Normanton, West Yorkshire
Salary
£64,985 - £68,434
Closing date
26 Jun 2022

This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of some of the most vulnerable children and young people in Wakefield.

Due to an internal promotion to strengthen our SEND services and a future retirement we have two Service Manager Posts available:

  • Service Manager for Inclusion Assessment Services and
  • Service Manager for Wakefield Inclusion Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Support Services

These posts will ensure that we continue to deliver the very best for children and young people with additional needs. That means both understanding the range of provision and specialist knowledge required to meet those needs, but also looking closely at how services are commissioned, delivered, and improved.

In these important roles, you’ll work closely with partners in Wakefield to make sure children and young people with SEND can access the support they need to help them achieve the very best possible outcomes – wherever they learn.

To do this, you’ll provide overall leadership to several key service areas outline in the Job Descriptions.

You’ll lead these services to ensure that our local offer is high quality and sharply focused on delivering improved outcomes.

These are complex roles – so we’re looking for two committed individuals with the combination of knowledge and leadership skills required to both understand the agenda and then to translate that into a strategy for action on the ground – influencing a wide range of stakeholders across the system, in Wakefield and beyond.

It’s important that you bring a detailed knowledge of the regulatory context, challenges and opportunities related to SEND and inclusion. This will require management experience gained in a relevant field.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a committed team who are already delivering great results. You’ll find experienced colleagues ready to support you and we hope you will seize the opportunity to shape how we work going forward.

If you want to use your skills to influence at a strategic level – making a real difference to the lived experience for children and young people with SEND and their families– we would love to hear from you.
