The London Boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth presents a unique opportunity to be part of an award-winning Public Health Team.

We are recruiting a permanent Public Health Lead to be part of the Targeted Interventions and Children & Young People’s Team. The role will provide the opportunity for a forward-thinking individual to set new standards in addressing health inequalities. The successful applicant will lead on the development of effective drug, alcohol, and mental health strategies across a diverse population of more than half a million people in South- West London.

The ideal candidate will have excellent relationship building and influencing skills, be comfortable working in a multi-agency environment, and be passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable communities. 

Key work streams include, supporting the commissioning of early intervention services for children and young people, establishing evidence-based prevention initiatives to reduce drug and alcohol related harm, supporting the Director of Public Health to establish robust licensing of alcohol sales, improving support for people with co-occurring mental health and substance misuse needs, and reducing drug and alcohol related deaths through an innovative case review panel.

Additional responsibilities will include supporting local suicide prevention strategies; identifying the health needs of specific populations; advising on and developing strategic plans for commissioned services; providing commissioning support to the NHS; and improving outcomes for residents.  The post holder will provide specialist public health advice and leadership and lead significant multi-agency and multi-disciplinary projects.
