This is an exciting opportunity to join Northumberland and be part of our brand-new pre-birth team. The team will offer an intensive package of support to expectant parents to strengthen their parenting prior to the arrival of their Newborn and continue to care plan for the baby once they arrive.

The team will work with co-located multi-agency partners in health, mental health services, and early help to give first-time parents and those who may have had previous children placed outside of their care the best possible opportunities to successfully care for their new babies.

The team will operate as a pilot for the first 12 months and if outcomes are successful will become a permanent part of the children’s social care structure. All successful candidates will be offered a permanent contract within the children’s social care structure.

Successful candidates will be:

· Experienced in working directly with parents, carers, and babies in the child protection and legal framework.

· Creative and enthusiastic about this area of practice

· Child focussed and keen to support babies to be cared for within their family networks

· Knowledgeable in areas of child development, safeguarding infants, care planning, and the legislative framework around Newborn babies.

· Skilled in offering strength based interventions and direct work with parents.

· Prepared to try innovative approaches and work flexibly with families.
