Lancaster district is in the county of Lancashire, with close geographic, environmental and community links around Morecambe Bay and strategic road, rail and sea connections to the north, south, east and west. The district is ambitious and is at the forefront of innovation and prosperity. It boasts a rich portfolio of assets stretching out across the stunning coastal landscape of Morecambe Bay, along with views of the Lake District and two areas of outstanding natural beauty. It has unique historic landmarks such as Lancaster Castle, which is still in the possession of the Queen, as the Duke of Lancaster.

There are a number of exciting large-scale projects in development, transformational regeneration of Morecambe Town Centre, commercial regeneration as part of the Heysham Gateway, a substantial garden village project, exciting plans for a mixed-use city centre regeneration and coastal and flood defence projects. You will be responsible for leading and delivering these projects within agreed timescales along with implementing the council’s asset management and investment strategy.
The hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. The Council currently operates a Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. This post is based at Palatine Hall but hybrid working arrangements are in place.
A Full UK driving license is essential, as the post holder must be able to travel between sites.
Earlier this year, Lancaster City Council unanimously declared a climate emergency and will strive towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be required to contribute and work towards reducing carbon emissions within the District.
