We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join our friendly team of application specialists.

About the role:

The Application Support team is based in Corporate IT (CIT) and we maintain, support and develop many of the key IT systems used across Richmond and Wandsworth Councils. Application specialists are essential in maintaining these systems so we can deliver the highest quality services to our residents and staff.

You will understand what it takes to maintain and support enterprise IT systems. Working in the Housing and Finance Team you will need to have a proven background in supporting, administering, and developing systems from the following (or similar) applications: NEC (Northgate) Revs and Bens, AccesPay, NEC Housing, QMatic, Pay360, Contender.

You will have a good working knowledge of SQL (Oracle preferably) and reporting packages (for example: PowerBI, SSRS, Business Objects) and the ability to interpret and manipulate data.

A knowledge of the frameworks that underpin local government would be a distinct advantage.     

Main responsibilities:

Some of the main responsibilities of the Application Specialist include:

  • Provide specialist expertise and support for second line user application-related issues.
  • Work with other teams in CIT as necessary to ensure appropriate technical input / advice to the development and support of the designated application.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of prioritised application development work plans – from significant IT projects to regular maintenance activities
  • Work closely with expert users and other subject matter experts within business areas to develop and document current and future business processes.
  • Participate in projects for the implementation or enhancement of applications; offering advice and guidance on the production of requirement specifications.
