With a population of c.328,000, over 24% of Sandwell is made up of green space, including parks, nature reserves and the wonderful Sandwell Valley.  The council has a very strong commitment to, and pride in, improving the quality of its green space and associated grounds maintenance and is developing a new range of public events to engage and activate our local and regional communities.  Excitingly, we also aim to invest in Sandwell Valley Country Park and develop a new masterplan for consultation in the coming year.  Our leisure facilities management arrangements include the incredible Sandwell Aquatic Centre which opens for community use in the Summer of 2023.

Strong leadership, partnership working and contract and project management is critical to the council as we look to drive improvements for street cleansing and waste collection, along with establishing a secure approach to project management and policy and strategy development across our Borough Economy Directorate. 

We are now seeking to recruit an Assistant Director who is passionate about improving the quality of services for our residents and ambitious to deliver a cleaner, greener and active Borough.   This opportunity presents not only a huge challenge but also a great opportunity to lead, develop and continuously improve a wide range of business-critical services. We are seeking an individual who is up for the challenge to join us in delivering this ambitious agenda for Sandwell.
