We are seeking to recruit an experienced, dedicated and creative Specialist Communication Support Worker (SSW) to join our team of professionals to work with deaf children across the Low Incidence Team, in the Local Authority Led Resourced Provisions (RP). This post will initially be based at Hanson School. 

The Low Incidence Team is a large, enthusiastic and dynamic team of specialists providing teaching and support for Deaf and visually impaired children and young people. We work with 4 schools that host a local authority led resourced provision and peripatetically across the Bradford local authority.

As a Specialist Communication Support Worker you will have access to training to support the development of your skills, mentoring from a team of well established practitioners in Deaf education and an opportunity to make a positive contribution to the successful education and wellbeing of Deaf children and young people.

Ideally you will have experience of working as a Communication Support Worker or Specialist Support Worker with deaf children and young people. You must have the ability to demonstrate skills in British Sign Language at a minimum of Level 2 and have a willingness to develop your BSL further. There will be opportunity within the service to do this.

As a Specialist Support Worker within the Low Incidence Team, you will have a commitment and passion to ensure quality access to whole school provision and delivery of good outcomes for deaf children and young people.

You will:

· Facilitate full access to the curriculum and whole school environment for deaf children and young people

· Implement agreed work programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve assisting the teacher in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources.

· To support the social and emotional wellbeing of children and young people by adopting an attachment aware and trauma informed approach to all practice . Applying agreed strategies for managing wellbeing including classroom management that foster a nurturing and Emotion Coaching approach
