Sandwell Adult and Family Learning Service are recruiting 1 full-time adult specialist tutor in ICT/digital skills to join our existing team of good and outstanding staff. 

The specialist ICT/digital teaching role is essential to meet the changing demands of our diverse community. You will need excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and a commitment to drive up the quality of the digital skills curricula to support the reforms within the digital skills entitlement. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to develop and deliver subject content that is both classroom-based and using online platforms, including support strategies for learners undertaking blended learning.

About you:

The successful applicant will be required to hold a minimum level 4 teaching qualification, in the ICT/digital subject specialist qualification (experience may allow for some flexibility) and English/maths at least at functional skills level 2. Applications are particularly welcome from adult tutors that have recent experience of working within other adult community learning organisations.

You will be required to work some evenings and Weekends at various points of the year, predominantly during October when we take part in the national Family Learning Festival. Close team work within all curriculum areas including English and Maths, will be critical to the posts, as well as supporting within community learning to embed digital skills across a wide range of subjects.

Sandwell Adult and Family learning would welcome applicants who have a proven record and experience teaching/assessing adults 19+ in the following subject specialist areas;

  • ICT
  • Digital skills
  • Digital marketing
  • Digital coding
  • Vocational subjects

You will be expected to deliver and assess within your specialist area including, digital skills within the entitlement curriculum offer and community-based learning to adults and families from entry level through to level 2; teaching 7 classes per week.

You will need to evidence your adult teaching hours for the past academic year and hold an observation grade of good or outstanding. Knowledge of Ofsted, SAR, moderation, standardisation and RARPA would be a distinct advantage.

However, the job role does require you to go into a council building to carry out part of your duties.
