Job Details

The City of York Council's corporate Business Support Service is offering an exciting opportunity to join our Scanning and Mail team which operates from West Offices and Hazel Court in a fixed office role.

This is a customer focussed role providing a comprehensive scanning, mail and goods management service to all departments within the council.

The role requires effective, tactful and diplomatic interpersonal and communications skills as you will be dealing with customers at all levels throughout the council. You will be dealing with confidential and sensitive information daily.

The post holder will undertake a wide range of routine technical administration tasks and must be able to demonstrate through experience and/or qualification a good working knowledge of document scanning and scanning software.

The successful candidate will work effectively and flexibly within a team as well as on their own initiative to meet operational needs.

The post holder will need to demonstrate organisational skills, including good time and task management and be able to prioritise own workload.

There is a requirement to work from both West Offices and Hazel Court so the successful candidate would need the ability to travel between sites.

The post holder will be part of a service that will continue to develop and adapt working practices. Successful candidates will have the ability to suggest improvements and be responsive to change.

A good level of experience in using Microsoft Office would be beneficial for this role.

The Council is committed to investing in the talent and wellbeing of our staff and can offer a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, comprehensive Health & Wellbeing initiatives and a reward package which recognises your contribution. We can offer flexible working practices, community engagement and volunteer activities and, as part of our commitment to you, promote continuous Learning & Development. In addition we also offer a growing range of discounts, rewards and savings.

For further information or an informal discussion please contact Jenny Jobe (Business Support Operations Manager) at  or on 01904 551193.
