Salary

Closing date

Rotherham is a borough with its sights set on the future. This is an excellent time to join us. We’ve come through both flooding and the global pandemic in the best Rotherham traditions; working hard, looking out for each other and protecting the most vulnerable. As we look to the coming years, the Council’s role in our community should live up to that ethic. We’ve got some big but exciting challenges ahead, all laid out in our new Council Plan. This role will have a leading part to play especially in the themes of “A Cleaner Greener Local Environment”, “People are Safe Healthy and Live Well” and “Every Neighbourhood Thriving”.

We’ve also started a huge programme of regeneration, investing in transport, town centres, villages, libraries and local neighbourhoods and we are committed to ensuring every community realises the full benefit of this investment. We are building homes that people can afford and creating safe, clean and green localities in which people aspire to live. Maintaining the quality of neighbourhoods, both from an environmental and safety point of view, is of the highest priority for Rotherham’s residents.

The Assistant Director of Community Safety and Street Scene is a key role within the leadership team, with responsibility for a large section of in-house services including Waste, Grounds Maintenance, Community Safety & Regulatory Services, Highways, Fleet and Licensing. These services have a key role in the drive to more Neighbourhood-led approaches and delivering on local priorities for Councillors and residents.

This will require visible leadership and significant experience of managing large-scale frontline operations across community-facing services. You will also need strong communication and leadership skills to inspire a huge workforce and engage with a range of stakeholders including three separate Cabinet Members.
