The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

Bradford is currently on a journey of change as we deliver the ambitious outcomes of our Council Plan. We have also recently been awarded City of Culture status for 2025. To support us, we are looking for a highly motivated and self-starting Project Advisor who will play an important role in ensuring we remain a well-run Council, using all our resources wisely to deliver priorities across the district.

The Projects and Special Initiatives team play a key role supporting many of the Councils major projects and initiatives, ranging from climate change, major infrastructure and build projects, procurements, and other cultural, regeneration, economic and transformation initiatives.

The work will provide you with a wide range of experiences, and the role suits candidates that communicate and collaborate well, and like a challenge. You will be part of a growing, dynamic team supporting multi-year transformational projects across a number of service areas. This is an influencing and negotiating role where the advice we provide directly impacts decision-making and outcomes. We work in a multi-disciplinary team with lawyers, project managers, contract management, procurement and other corporate services, which will provide ample opportunities for growth. You will also be expected to interface with external development partners and consultants.

The role we are seeking to recruit to, requires strong creative, financial modelling, commercial and negotiation skills, this post performs a key troubleshooting role in supporting major council projects and contracts including dispute resolutions. Project management, data modelling and report building skills within an ERP environment, with Power BI or similar tools, would be an asset.

It is essential that you have at least 5 years’ experience working in a financial environment, in a complex organisation. CCAB qualified (or equivalent), is desirable, and you would need to have a minimum AAT qualification or equivalent, along with a strong track record of success in managing relationships, demonstrating resilience and providing excellent financial advice. Local Government experience, whilst preferential, is not essential for this role.
