It is an exciting time to join us as Head of Service for Safeguarding, DoLS and South District. The post sits within Bolton Council as part of the wider Bolton Integrated Care Partnership. We are currently collocating with our health colleagues and developing our district model.  As Head of Service, you will work collaboratively across both the Integrated Care and Safeguarding partnerships to ensure adults in Bolton are safe, have a voice, live and age well.  

You will need to evidence that you have significant experience and knowledge of the statutory duties under the Care Act 2014 and associated adult social care legislation including Mental Capacity Act including DoLS.  You will have responsibility for the DoLS team and be responsible for the implementation of the Liberty Protection Safeguards following the consultation process.

You will have experience and an understanding of working of within a multi-agency safeguarding and screening service. The service is co located with children’s safeguarding, the police and other agencies. You will have a key role within Bolton Safeguarding Adults Board, supporting the Board Manager to meet the Boards statutory and legal requirements.

As part of the role, you will contribute to strategic planning within the Department and provide professional guidance and leadership to teams, ensuring effective and proportionate responses to case management, risk and safeguarding concerns.

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about delivering and designing person centred care for adults, with experience of managing statutory social work services and committed to shaping and driving forward safe and effective services.

You will have a good working knowledge of managing and understanding social care issues and be an excellent communicator. You will be able to produce written reports, plans and develop policies to a high standard.

You will have significant experience of working within a multi-agency setting and be confident working with officers at all levels on strategic priorities to drive the partnership agendas.

You will be a highly visible and influential leader who is a real ambassador for social care, inspiring confidence in others. You will provide significant leadership to ensure Adult Social Care is a strong contributor in the development of integrated services, enabling people to be independent and connected to their communities.
