Job Details

City of York Council have an exciting opportunity within the Housing Options and Support service.

You will provide ongoing support for tenants moving in to and sustaining tenancies. You will support the Private Rented Sector Worker with administrative duties, ensuring that tenancy agreements, benefit claims etc are complete and accurate.

You will be the single point of contact for tenants (who will primarily be homeless/rough sleepers) who are experiencing difficulties within their tenancy.

Experience of working with homeless people would be an advantage but it is essential that you have an understanding of the private rented sector and supporting people. You will need to be able to demonstrate that you are sympathetic and firm and you are able to cope in situations, which can be stressful as well as rewarding.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
