The Service
Northumberland County Council Planning Service is looking to recruit a Planning Policy Technical Assistant, on a fixed term contract for 18 months, to work in the Planning Policy Team. The Planning Policy Team is responsible for the development and review of planning policies and strategies relating to the Northumberland Local Plan and other planning policy documents, including the provision of monitoring and information services.
The role
A vacancy has arisen for a Planning Policy Technical Assistant within the Planning Policy Team. You should be an enthusiastic individual, who can provide technical expertise and support on the preparation and review of the Northumberland Local Plan, including the provision of GIS mapping and monitoring services. The key pieces of work the post holder will support are:
· GIS mapping work for both the Northumberland Local Plan and emerging Neighbourhood Plans; and
· Housing and employment monitoring evidence.
You must be able to demonstrate experience in using GIS mapping applications and Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheets and databases). You should also have experience in research techniques and the collection and collation of data and the ability to prepare monitoring reports and other technical reports.

A starting salary of £20,444 - £22,129 (Band 4)
25 days annual leave plus public and bank holidays (rising to 30 after 5 years of service)(pro-rata for part-time employees)
