We have an exciting opportunity for the right person to work within the Fostering Service to improve outcomes for children and young people in Cumbria.

The Role

As a Fostering Social Worker, you will recruitment and train Foster Carers, supporting them in providing high quality family placements for children. You will use active listening, observation and communication, to build strong relationships with Foster Carers, families, children and young people, understanding and analysing the needs of each individual.  You will be using assessment skills and managing risk within the social worker role and will need skills in support, challenge and engagement. There is a duty role in the team to support and manage any crisis situations and respond in a supportive style.

Who we are looking for:

The ideal candidate will be a qualified and registered social worker who has passed their ASYE. Ideally, they have experience working with children and families pre, post or during proceedings. A sound knowledge of relevant legislation and a good understanding of Assessment and Case Management processes is essential. Applicants must have good assessment and report writing skills, and be confident in appearing before panels. We are looking for someone organised and professional, who can meet deadlines, complete work, deliver training someone, who prioritises integrity and consistency.

This role will require travel in and around the county.
