Managing the teams who maintain a high quality of life for our residents.

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. Across the borough, our Estates Services teams collaborate with residents of council-owned housing estates to look after shared amenities and outdoor spaces. We also work to combat anti-social behaviour, fly-tipping, litter and graffiti. Our aim is for everyone to have a clean, safe, healthy place to live.

The Role:

This is an opportunity to shape a new team and a new role. Responsible for a clearly defined location in the borough, you will manage a team of Estate Managers and Caretakers, as well as a number of contractors, ensuring they deliver efficient frontline services. Besides carrying out service planning, you will drive performance, and ensure we achieve increased customer satisfaction. Resolving practical people issues within the team will be central to your success, along with coaching and motivating others. As your team develops and grows in expertise, you’ll have the satisfaction seeing the difference that they make to the local area.

About You:

While estate management experience would be useful, it is not essential.  More important are solid people management skills and the ability to communicate with everyone from residents to senior management.  Highly organised, you’ll be skilled at scheduling and resource planning, and will ideally have some project management experience.  We’ll also look for evidence of a strong customer focus.  As you’ll have special responsibility across the wider department for pest control, expertise in this area would be a bonus. Good health and safety awareness is essential and you should hold or be ready to acquire a NEBOSH qualification.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
