In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. From small shopkeepers to large construction sites, a wide variety of local businesses have contracts to use our commercial waste services, and we aim to provide them all with excellent customer service.
This is a frontline customer role, working as part of a close-knit team to arrange services and payments, solve problems, input data and offer advice. You could find yourself preparing reports on the tonnage of waste we’ve processed, working with waste contractors, carrying out stock audits on sacks and other waste receptacles, or taking customer payments by telephone – anything and everything that contributes to the smooth running of our commercial waste operation.

While experience of the commercial waste industry would be helpful, it is not essential as we provide full training. However, we do look for people with proven customer skills, which could have been gained in a public-facing role such as hospitality or retail. Well-organised, flexible and quick to learn, you’ll ideally have good Excel skills and will be happy working with data and numerical information. Strong communication skills are, of course, essential.
