When you join us in this role, you will be part of the Council’s Corporate Management Team working collaboratively to contribute to our challenges and successes whilst leading our Finance, IT, procurement and Transformation services. Ensuring public money is managed responsibly, that we have modern and responsive procurement practises that deliver social value and support the local economy. You will continue to support the improvements and investments to our IT provision alongside a district wide digital infrastructure and connectivity strategy and continue to drive improved outcomes and efficiencies through our Transformation programme.

Creating and encouraging a culture of high achievement and service excellence through efficiency and continuous improvement in a high challenge, high support culture. You will support and advise Elected Members and the Chief Executive so they can fulfil their responsibilities, as the statutory S151 Officer.

You will be responsible for ensuring the effective and sustainable use of resources, you will work with Members and Corporate colleagues to deliver an effective and sustainable financial strategy and ensure the implementation of effective budget processes and ensure effective governance and control functions are in place to provide financial assurance.

 

To be a success in this role, you will need to be able to contribute to all aspects of the Councils business as part of the Council Leadership Team, in a challenging financial and political environment as part of a large and complex organisation. You will need to be robust and able to work collaboratively at all levels of the officer and member structure and you will bring your experience of delivering innovative and creative solutions to develop better outcomes for our residents and businesses as you lead our transformation programme and deliver our Medium-Term Financial Strategy.

An inspirational and motivating leader with a track record of promoting and delivering positive solutions to achieve diversity and equality of opportunity, you’ll also have the ability to understand the varying needs of your colleagues, find solutions to complex issues, and move quickly to develop contingency and mitigation strategies.

You will possess a professional, academic or management qualification or relevant professional experience, evidence of sustained personal and professional development, and a successful track record at a senior management level of achieving improved key priority outcomes. It’s essential that you have a good understanding of the legal, financial and political workings of local government, and be ready to use current best practice to tackle a wide range of challenges.
