Lancashire Highways and Transport is responsible for the direct delivery of all highway related schemes across the County made up of 4,300 miles of road, 151,000 street lights and 2955 bridges.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lighting Technician to join a small team of lighting professionals based at our Burnley Depot, Heasandford Industrial Estate, Widow Hill Rd

Burnley and be working with multi-disciplinary teams to support colleagues and provide a wide range of highway lighting maintenance and design duties. 

The successful applicant will ideally have a recognised Engineering background, preferably in the electrical industry but consideration will also be given to recently qualified Engineers as role specific training will be provided. 

Main Accountabilities

• Management and maintenance of electrical furniture on the public highway.
• Design and delivery of projects across the service.
• Approval of developers' designs for Section 38 and Section 278 works.
• Preparation of detailed AutoCAD drawings and plans, including the use of Xrefs (external references) for coordination of works with other design teams. 
• Investigate and resolve inventory anomalies.
• Provide consultation for planning applications.
• Preparation of design briefs.
• Budgetary Control.
• Project management.
• Dealing with client and customer enquiries.
• Updating, collating and analysis of databases and asset management systems.

Skills & Experience

• Working with Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
• Working with road lighting design software - Lighting Reality or similar.
• Working with electrical design software - Amtech or similar.
• Asset management.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Working with 2D computer aided design packages (AutoCAD).
• Electrical safety.
• Budget management.
• Project management.

The post is a permanent full-time position (37 hours per week) based at Burnley Depot Widow Hill Rd Burnley BB10 2TJ where there is free car parking.
