We are pleased to offer two posts within the Children’s Services Finance Team, one in Strategic Finance and one in Schools Finance. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Team in the role Principal Accounting Technician.

The duties will include assisting in the preparation and management of the Department’s budget, final accounts, and related tasks in accordance with agreed timescales, standards, and code of practice. 

The roles will involve working alongside budget holders to provide financial support and advice and financial solutions.  Successful applicants will develop, maintain, and provide a range of financial information for budget holders and both internal and external partners. Across the two posts, these partners include Schools, Bolton Commissioning group and Bolton Foundation Trust.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to continue your studies towards becoming a fully qualified CCAB accountant.

About You

Applicants should be enthusiastic team players with excellent communication, organisational and financial management skills. They should be willing to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and able to respond to those changes in innovative ways. 

Working as part of a supportive team, you should be able to advise on a range of budgetary solutions and be prepared to work creatively as part of the team and on you own initiative to meet the challenges ahead.

We are a finance team within Bolton Council, responsible for supporting the Directorates of Children’s, Adult’s, Public Health and Housing.

We work alongside colleagues within Schools, Bolton Commissioning group and Bolton Foundation Trust to help provide an integrated service within Bolton.
