Big ambition, big impact on children’s lives.

Halton Borough Council is an ambitious and successful local authority with a ‘can-do’ mentality woven into the fabric of our organisation.

While we’re a small authority, we achieve big things on a local, regional and global scale – whether that be the construction of the Mersey Gateway Bridge or supporting world-class science and innovation at Sci-Tech Daresbury.

We’re now looking for an exceptional leader to help drive forward our improvement journey in Children’s Services at pace to ensure all our children receive the best possible start in life and can achieve their full potential. This is a broad role that covers SEND, early years, school improvement, admissions, and alternative education. Reporting to the Strategic Director of People (DCS) you will have the autonomy to get things done but with the full support of your peers, DCS, Chief Executive and Members.

As Operational Director for Education, Inclusion & Provision you will help to define our education service of the future, responding to the various White Papers, strengthening SEND services and developing an all-phase school led improvement system. Partnership working and influencing skills will be vital to success, and you will focus on continuing to build and strengthen relationships with key partners across Education, Health, Police, and the voluntary and community sector. We are looking for someone who can gain the respect of partners across a complicated education landscape, both in Halton and across the wider Liverpool City Region. Workforce will also be key, and you will help to develop and empower your staff to create a culture of inquisitiveness and learning as well as articulating our vision and ambition for education services.

This is an exceptional opportunity to both enhance your career and make a real difference to the children, young people and families across our borough. If you want to work for an agile local authority that knows its communities and share our passion to make Halton the best place to grow up, then we’d love to hear from you.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact: Chris Barrow on 07437 839048 or Anita Denton on 07725 554802.

Closing date: midnight on Sunday 4th September
