Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Care UK to recruit Care Assistants for their residential care facility, Silversprings Care Home in Thorrington near Colchester.

Care UK are looking to recruit Care Assistant for both days and night. Shifts can be discussed at interview stage. This role will also require weekend working.

*Salary will be £9.50 to £9.75 per hour depending on experience.

Silversprings care home in Thorrington, Essex, has stunning gardens and a welcoming atmosphere. The experienced team provides residential care and nursing care, as well as dementia care and short-term respite care. They also deliver discreet and sympathetic end of life care for their residents.

Being a Care Assistant does not just mean helping residents to remain as active and independent as possible while respecting their rights of choice, privacy, and dignity. It means having fun and laughter with them and using your skills to help them deal with day-to-day difficulties like personal care and mealtimes. It also means working as part of a team to identify their unique goals and implement personalised care plans. It means working flexibly to help them explore new interests, engage in physical exercise and activities and make sure they enjoy themselves in a stimulating and homely environment.

Ideally you would have experience of caring/support worker for others but not necessarily in a paid role - you may have looked after an elderly relative or friend. More important though is your kind-hearted nature, belief in teamwork and ability to use your initiative and imagination, follow instructions and prioritise a busy workload. You will be comfortable talking to, and working with, people from different professions, you will need to be great at keeping records too.

As part of employment should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate.
