Exciting new posts have been developed to support victims and children in safe accommodation as part of the local authorities’ statutory duty outlined in the new Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

We are looking for a highly motivated and compassionate individual to work as part of the Wakefield District Domestic Abuse Service.

The post holder will support victims of domestic abuse in safe accommodation to access assessment, advice, and support around their complex needs.

The post holder will need to be flexible and proactive in their approach to support complex victims to engage with a wide range of services such as support to attend appointments to gain specialist advice and support and to advocate for such support, on the victim’s behalf, with specialist services. 

The post holder will provide outreach support to engage clients into appropriate services and deliver interventions to reduce the risk of harm and repeat domestic abuse.

The post holder will provide expert advice to victims of domestic abuse through drop-in clinics and community setting such as the refuge. The post will also provide professional advice to individuals currently working with the safe accommodation team when working with families and individuals who have presented as homeless because of domestic abuse. The role will also build and develop existing partnerships within domestic abuse and the wider partnership across the Wakefield district to tackle domestic abuse.

This post holder will require confirmation of suitability to work within a Police Station via the Police vetting process.
