The NCS team are looking for enthusiastic and motivated sessional youth workers to support on the NCS programme. With a team based at the Crofton Young Peoples Centre, you will be working with core groups of up to 16 young people (aged 15-17 years). You will have the opportunity to be involved in this exciting programme and get to support the involvement of your team of young people through all phases of the programmes with other teams and staff.

Safeguarding and health and safety are very important aspects of the role, for which you will receive full training and support. You will also take part in NCS specific training which will be delivered before you commence working with young people.

The team deliver NCS throughout July and August in line with Year 11 young people finishing school for the summer. Delivery is in 3 “waves”, with each wave being a 2-week (Monday to Friday) programme. The first week is a 4 nights and 5 days residential experience with young people and the second week is non-residential (based locally in Wakefield) - hours approx. 9.30am - 5.30pm. The dates for each wave are the following:

Wave 1: Weeks commencing 27th June and 4th July.

Wave 2: Weeks commencing 11th July and 18th July

Wave 3: Weeks commencing 1st August and 8th August

*You must be able work all dates in at least one of the Waves (cohorts) outlined above to be eligible to work.

Successful applicants will need to have:

  • Experience of contributing to the delivery of exciting and imaginative youth work provision.
  • Experience of working alongside community and voluntary sector organisations to provide activities for young people, together with effective communication skills
