How would you raise the standing, strengthen the partnerships and improve the impact of the largest local authority in the country?

There’s so much happening in our vibrant city right now and we’re not just talking about the Commonwealth Games. We are a city on the move, and that demands great leadership and high performing teams to make the most of our opportunities. Key to our success is working with our local and national partners and building partnerships that bring about change.

This role is as much about leadership and seizing every opportunity to influence our standing, direction and outcomes, not only for council leadership and citizens but for colleagues, too. We’ll not constrain your passion for doing things differently and there’s an appetite in the council for both innovation and collaboration. This is a role which will play to your strengths in relationship building and influencing at the highest level, whether that’s working closely with our Chief Executive, her colleagues and politicians, key stakeholders, partners and potential investors.

This is a division that’s going places and our Director of Strategy, Equality and Partnerships is creating opportunities for people like you to have real influence and impact. Your portfolio will include the critical central functions of Strategic Partnerships, External Affairs and Corporate Leadership (including support to our Cabinet Office and the Chief Executive’s Office).

We want to recruit the best person for this role. That probably means persuading you to join us from another high-performing role at the centre of a significant and high-impact organisation. It’s highly likely that you’ve been engaged in creating opportunities for change based on insight, evidence and a strong understanding of the context and environment impacting your organisation.

We anticipate that you’ve had experience in organisational management, leadership and generating investment and public profile. And we know you’re likely to be an accomplished senior stakeholder who builds lasting and trusting partnerships.

It’s time to tell us about your strengths and the experience that has led you to apply for this role, as well as highlighting how this role contributes to your aspirations and career objectives.

We welcome applications from people with caring responsibilities and flexible working options will be considered.
