Location

Salary
£32,868 - £36,579
Closing date

Create life-changing opportunities for mentorship of cared for and looked after children.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we put delivering for our communities at the heart of everything we do. We believe passionately that children and young people who are in care or looked after by us deserve our support to raise their educational achievement and aspirations, so they can have the best chance of a successful life. Mentoring is a great way to do this, as we can match young people with volunteers who can help them develop new skills and knowledge.

The Role:

Working closely with cared for and looked after children and care leavers, you will secure independent visitors and mentors who can make a difference in their lives. Key to this will be developing our Independent Visitors / Peer Mentoring Scheme so that it includes volunteers from a broader demographic. As well as making sure that matching and recruitment meet best practice standards, you will help to supervise volunteers and create peer mentoring groups.

Bringing an enthusiastic, sensitive and responsive approach to your work with volunteers, and working systematically with families, you will ensure everyone feels valued. Along the way, you will work with other agencies and professionals. You will also have support on tap across our Children’s Services. Here, you can look forward to training, development and scope to be creative in the solutions we offer. Across a range of locations, you will work with a relatively small cohort of children, giving you the time and space to make a meaningful and lasting difference.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

Whether you have a relevant qualification such as social or youth work, or the experience and ability to achieve one, you will certainly bring to the role a real passion for this role. We expect you to demonstrate your enthusiasm, plus a good understanding of our vision. Ideally, you will have lived experience that gives you insight into how we can best deliver a service that makes positive change happen. You will certainly bring to the role experience of volunteer coordination, project management, training delivery, and the provision of direct support to children and young people.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s alone will not be considered for this role.
