The Supporting Carers and Young People Together team (SCAYT) provides support and information to carers of children looked after by the local authority and those adopted. The SCAYT+ team contributes to the formulation of assessments and provides consultation and offers therapeutic intervention to families and other professionals involved in the child's care planning. The overall aim of the SCAYT service is to provide therapeutic support to improve the emotional health and wellbeing of looked after and adopted children and young people and their parents/carers and staff and to enable them to thrive. Support will utilise and build upon the assets and strengths of the child, family and the community that surrounds them.

We are looking for a practitioner who has some understanding of attachment theory, systemic practice and therapeutic principles. Experience of working with children looked after and/or children adopted is desirable. A small part of the work will be working directly with children, while the majority of SCAYT+'s work is completed with the child's main caregiver, social workers and other professionals who are involved in the child's care planning. Please see attached person specification for further information.
