Lancashire County Council is changing... Could you be part of our journey?

This new role has been created to support Lancashire County Council's improvement journey, using communications to drive change and make our brilliant organisation even better.

These are exciting times for Lancashire, but it's also a period of challenge. With 1.2m residents we are the fourth biggest council in the country and the biggest in the North of England. We've got a huge geography - twice the size of Greater London - which has a little bit of everything from coast to countryside, inner cities to quiet villages, industry to agriculture. Every year we support more than 25,000 families. We've got some of the most affluent parts of the country in our patch - and some of the most deprived.

We sit at the heart of our county - providing vital, lifesaving services, driving economic growth, and amplifying the voice of the county on the national stage. Our staff deliver this with passion, integrity and dedication. To help keep our people match fit, we are continually looking at ways of improving how we go about our business. Our comprehensive and ambitious improvement journey is on the cusp of delivery and we need an exceptional internal communications expert to manage the plethora of communications needed to make it a success.

If you fit the bill, what are you waiting for?

About the role

Providing strategic and operational communications support, you will work alongside senior managers to deliver a clear vision for our improvement journey. Working closely with internal stakeholders you will create a communication and engagement framework that supports our vision to make Lancashire the best place to live, work, visit and prosper.

About you

We're only looking for the very best for this role because that's what our colleagues and the people of Lancashire deserve.

You'll need to show you're able to bring strategic communication vision and leadership to a complex and broad portfolio of services that carry significant visibility and contribute to vital organisational priorities. You will be able to demonstrate from your professional experience a broad understanding of how effective communications and engagement strategies can change and improve service delivery, staff performance and, ultimately, people's lives.

This is an exciting and challenging role that will require you to draw on your wealth of communications knowledge and experience to work with a range of complex services with challenging priorities and stakeholders. Your ability to quickly build trusted relationships, establish credibility and understand stakeholder needs will be essential.
