Lincolnshire County Council is looking to appoint a Highways Officer to support the planning and delivery of excellent highways services. The role is responsible for a specific geographical area for Highways Services functions within the Local Highways team.

This is an exciting opportunity in an ever evolving service that is both challenging and rewarding.

About the Role

The post holder will be responsible for their own area as part of a team covering a quarter of the counties highway through Local Highways East. There is a varied workload that challenges the officer to prioritise engineering solutions in their area based on the safety, serviceability and function for the public.

This workload includes highways maintenance, winter maintenance, highways safety inspections, Highways Act enforcement, reaction to highways emergency events, environmental improvements and acting as a public interface for all highways services.

The post holder will contribute to a conscientious culture of proactive, future-focused service delivery that is accountable and engaging to our customers.

LCC are proud to offer an agile and flexible approach to working where no two days are the same, working from home and in the local service area commutable to the base of Horncastle.

About You

We are looking for candidates who are knowledgeable and experienced within the highways sector that can work effectively within their own area of expertise (whilst developing their skills on a daily basis), supporting their team, collaborating with colleagues across the service to deliver the best outcomes for our customers in Lincolnshire.

To do this a combination of technical knowledge and good communication skills will be required, underpinned by a dedication to the customer and drive to achieve targets.

You will ideally hold HNC or Eng Tech in appropriate discipline, however applicants with suitable industry experience will be considered.

Streetworks accreditation and Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) registration is desirable but not essential.

You will be flexible and responsible, with good interpersonal skills allowing you to work within a dynamic and diverse team.

You will be required to drive at work on a daily basis therefore a full and valid driver's license is essential
