The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

We are seeking to recruit a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team of professionals to work with Deaf children across Bradford in the Local Authority Led Resourced Provisions (LARP).

The Low Incidence Team is a large, enthusiastic and dynamic team of specialists providing teaching and support for children and young people who are deaf and / or vision impaired.  The Local Authority Led Resourced Provisions are within Swain House Primary School, Girlington Primary School, Grove House Primary School and Hanson School.

As a Specialist Support Worker you will have access to training to support the development of your skills, mentoring from a team of well established practitioners in deaf education and an opportunity to make a positive contribution to the successful education and wellbeing of deaf young people.

Ideally you will have experience of working as a Communication Support Worker or Specialist Support Worker with deaf children. You must have the ability to demonstrate skills in British Sign Language at a minimum of Level 2 and have a willingness to develop your BSL further.  There will be opportunity within the service to do this.

As a Specialist Support Worker within The Low Incidence Team, you will have a commitment and passion to ensure quality access to whole school provision and delivery of good outcomes for deaf pupils.

You will:
