Mechanic (Craft Person): Transport Services. Location: Vehicle Maintenance Workshop, Newton Bar, Wakefield, WF1 2TU. Grade 7 Starting salary £25,927 (£13.44H) to £28,226 (£14.63H) plus Shift and tool allowance (Pay Award Pending). Also extra earning opportunities are available for winter maintenance standby duties and bank holiday work etc.
You will be joining us at a very exciting time as we move to Featherstone later this year to a state of the art fleet maintenance facility. If you are interested in working for the foremost Council Transport Services Team in the country, four time national award winner and holders of Earned Recognition Accreditation from the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency.
Having experience of undertaking similar work in a demanding workshop environment, you will need to be apprentice trained and possess at least City & Guilds Motor Vehicle certificate level I, II or an equivalent qualification to at least NVQ level. Working 37 hours per week your shifts will be on a 1 in 5 rota = 4 weeks on days and 1 week on afternoons which includes a Saturday morning.
