Growth, Environment & Transport Directorate

Lancashire, Countywide

Salary to £105,459 + £5,300 car allowance + benefits

We are currently recruiting…

Two fabulous Directors to work within the Growth, Environment & Transport Directorate at Lancashire County Council: a Director for Growth & Regeneration, plus a Director for Environment & Planning. These roles had previously been a single role however following the promotion of the previous occupant to the Executive Director position; the decision has been taken to split them so they each have a separate focus. This reflects the significant scale of growing demands in these area's and is reflected in the council's corporate priorities and delivery plans, sub-regional agenda, national policy levels and legislation.

What we are looking for…

Passion – you'll be passionate about Lancashire and how we can make a difference to the diverse communities that we serve, how we can maximise PESTLE factors to make a tangible difference to people's lives - you'll be passionate about change, development and the efficient utilisation of our resources plus the creation of others; looking at the long-term plan for Lancashire's future, and finally passionate about challenge, whether that's policy, process or practice anywhere that improvements can be made and have a significant impact – you'll be leading your areas, inspiring your teams and developing initiatives for our county – we can't think of a better or more exciting role

Collaboration & Communication – you'll be a team player, passionate about delivering success as a team and working collaboratively across the directorate to deliver our objectives – you'll relish dynamic working relationships so great at forming partnerships with leaders in each of your individual sectors, in addition to throughout the organisation – we expect you to bring excellent communication and influencing skills, that secure level of confidence that specialist tacit knowledge provides and the ability to share information across all levels, tailoring your communication as required from influencing decision making with politicians to delivering policy briefings or press releases regarding our plans for the future

Creative & Innovative – You'll be a catalyst for innovation and change; adept at understanding the relationship between strategic goals, objectives and how innovation can be a key business driver to delivering them – you'll want to create innovative solutions to secure sustainable development for the county and collaborate with others to do this, demonstrating how thorough data analysis can influence decisions, measure our performance, drive change and maximise our resources whether that's through economic development or utilising the countryside and assets we have already

Values driven – Supportive, innovative, respectful & collaborative – our values are embedded into the way we interact with our peers, partners, and communities we serve but equally importantly; they're key to our behaviours and essential to these roles – we want people who live and breathe the values, really understand and make them live in their daily lives both personally and professionally, people who appreciate the transformational difference they can bring to how we operate

Why join us…

Benefits: There's fabulous flexibility and the opportunity to create the work life balance you'll love with up to 31 days annual leave plus bank holidays, 2 additional days at Christmas and then an additional 20 days that can be purchased too – we offer a generous relocation allowance (over £8k) and local government pension with shared AVC's available and a benefits package which has everything from dog care to day care, holidays at home or abroad, long service awards, Medicash, support groups, cycle to work schemes and eye tests plus much more

Development: we don't believe development stops when you achieve a senior leadership role so you'll get the opportunity for support, growth, development and both personal/professional qualifications once you join – there will be time for supportive reflection and supervision for yourself, opportunities for multidisciplinary initiatives, mentoring, and you'll have the opportunity to make a difference, feel valued and achieve the job satisfaction you've always wanted, somewhere where your successes will be celebrated, your ideas listened to and your voice heard

Inclusivity: we don't have a "one size fits all" idealism, we embrace diversity and that includes around personal and family requirements so appreciate that you'll want to be working from home when you can, your hours may vary or change and for us – delivering successful outcomes is more important than watching the clock
