Are you looking for a career in highways? Would you like to be part of a high-performance team who look after Liverpool City Council assets ensuring they are effective and fit for purpose? If the answer is yes, then send in your application today for the position of Technical Assistant – Drainage & Structures.

Liverpool City Council has embarked on a major improvement programme that involves all parts of the organisation. Transport & Highways is especially focussed on delivering a range of improvements across the whole directorate. It has recently completed a service review which has identified the need for a number of positions to help it deliver its statutory duty in maintaining a highway that is functioning and fit for purpose.

As part of the team you will make regular visits to site to check on contractor activities. You will work closely with the Principal and Senior Engineers Drainage and the Principal Engineer Structures.

You will report to the Drainage Principal Engineer . You will be a self-starter with ambition, keen to learn and progress in the team. You will already have or be progressing towards a relevant qualification.

Responsibilities:

  • To carry out site visits across the city which will include, but not be limited to, measuring and marking out works, taking photographs, delivering public consultation materials, erecting notices that comply with the legal requirement to notify residents of schemes and other similar duties.
  • Supervision of drainage investigation works by contractors or others
  • Support for special events will also be required and this could mean out of hours work, therefore there is a requirement to work flexibly.
  • Develop and maintain the asset register (Section 21 of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 - the Authority is required to maintain a register and record of all structures and features that may have an effect on flood risk in the area).

If you are ready for your next challenge, apply now.
