We have a rare opportunity to join our team as an Independent Reviewing Officer for our children and young people in care. This is a two year fixed term contract initially to cover a secondment for permanent member of staff.

We are a stable and supportive team who hold children and young people at the centre of our practice.

As an IRO you will be responsible for holding CLA Review meetings for children in our care. You will be expected to visit the children and young people you support prior to their review meeting. You will also have duties to monitor casework across the service and quality assure the work being undertaken by the Department and where appropriate to critically challenge, to ensure the service works in the best interests of the children and young people involved.

About You

We are seeking somebody with energy, drive and commitment to support our children in care.

You will be an experienced Social Worker with a minimum of 5 years experience broad and detailed knowledge regarding Child Protection and Care proceedings as well as extensive experience and knowledge of children looked after.

You must be experienced and confident in chairing meetings and working with young people.

You will have a clear understanding of multi-agency working in partnership and be focused on ensuring timely and good quality services are being provided to the children and young people you are working with. You must be able to work in a restorative way and be confident to challenge when required.
