Emotional Health Practitioner

Bolton Council
Bolton, Greater Manchester
Grade I scp 31 £39,186 to scp 35 £43,421 per annum
Closing date
11 Dec 2023

We are looking for an Emotional Health Practitioner to join a new and innovative team to support the development and delivery of Bolton’s Staying Close provision within the wider Looked After Children’s Service. Following a successful funding bid from the Department for Education, this new provision will support young people who are living in their children’s home to receive additional support as they transition into adulthood. This will also include a small cohort of young people as they transition out of youth custody.

This is a new and exciting role to join a skills-mixed team including a Team Manager, Personal Advisors, Youth Workers and specialist roles including education/ employment and housing. You will be responsible for ensuring a small cohort of young people’s emotional, mental health and behavioural issues are assessed and supported through appropriate interventions. This key role will contribute to the development of a range of therapeutic services and consultations, including group work, direct work and other interventions as requested.

In this role you will be expected to work alongside the wider Staying Close Team to ensure that all needs of the young person are understood and supported with emotional health and wellbeing a major priority. This means that you will be responsible for working with others to drive forward the vision for Staying Close and making it happen.

You will also be required to work as part of a wider project team to support delivery of the DfE funded programme. This will include highlighting system barriers as well as new ways of working to inform learning at a local and national level.

About You

We are looking for someone with a positive outlook who is passionate about supporting young people as they prepare for adulthood and independence. The role requires an in depth understanding of the housing system and tenancy support including issues that are particularly relevant to care leavers. You will need to be resilient, solution focused, with an ethos of collaboration at a team, partnership and leadership level.

Staying Close is a new and innovative offer, we are therefore looking for an innovative, energetic and creative individual who has experience of supporting the emotional health and well-being of young people.

This is a great development opportunity to be part of a DfE innovation project.
