Job Details

Bexley is a great place in which to live, work or study. It has the best of both worlds - close to the centre of London but still a green, safe, and friendly place to be. And our mission is to make Bexley even better by supporting residents to live the best lives possible and to reach their potential. We will secure investment in the borough so that current and future generations and communities live in a thriving place, and we will run an efficient and effective Council to make the most of our resources.

There has never been a more important time to join us as our new Director of Adult Social Care and Health and statutory DASS. As our strategic leader, you will have prevention, early help, and reducing inequalities at the heart of all that you do, ensuring Bexley is a place where everyone can live a health and fulfilling life.

Service integration has worked in Bexley, and we are proud of the great strides we have made by working in close partnership with the ICS, community & voluntary sector, businesses, partners, and our residents. This is not just a critical role for our Council, it is a critical role for our ambitious system. As one of two Place Executive Leads within the borough, you will work alongside and in an integrated way with the place lead at our ICS, driving our agenda forward with join system ownership. In this role, and together with partners, you will continue to design, implement, and embed new ways of both thinking and working that delivers the best possible outcomes for our residents, no matter the service they need.

We have been ambitious for our services in Bexley, and you will join a team and Council that embraces change, modernisation and transformation. Under your leadership we will continue to be at the forefront of driving positive service change in both adult social care and health, with improving our residents’ outcomes always our primary focus.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will already be a leader within adult social care services. Whether or not you are a qualified social worker, you will be able to demonstrate that you have put residents and communities at the centre of your previous work, delivering improved outcomes and improving lives.

In the current climate, prudent financial management is essential, and you will be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver the best possible services whilst achieving value for money for your organisation through innovation, service improvement, and integrated partnership working.

In Bexley we look for leaders that champion change; use their professional judgement to take calculated risks; create an environment where everyone around them can thrive; and takes responsibility for making things happen.
