You will contribute to the development and outcomes of the Regional Adoption Agency (RAA), known as Adoption Now.

The successful candidate will work predominantly in one of three workstreams, Care Planning and Family Finding, Recruitment and Assessment of Adopters or Adoption Support, with potential to work across the teams as required.

The role is part of a service that recruits, trains, assesses and supports adoptive families and finds families for children needing permanence.

This role is a full time post within the care planning and family find team within Adoption Now. You will family find for children predominantly from the Bolton area with a plan of adoption. You will work along side colleagues from across the Region, completing reports, working with children and families, foster carers, adopters and birth family and attending panel.  

You will contribute to or Chair meetings and panels in relation to adoption planning, matching and introductions as well as comply with legislation and the departments administrative and financial procedures including maintenance of appropriate records on the ICS system.

You will also attend and contribute to, the supervision process, attend in house and external training as required and be responsible for continued self-directed learning and professional development in the field of adoption.

You will contribute to the development and delivery of quality services offered by the Regional Adoption Agency, in accordance with Adoption Regulations, Standards and best practice.

You will prepare and present detailed reports, which are comprehensive, analytical, accurate and grammatically sound, for a variety of forums including courts and adoption panel, in accordance with statutory timescales.

The role will also involve:

·         Holding cases where children have a possible plan of adoption, offering advice and support on care planning.

·         Completing direct work with children to continue to prepare them for adoption and give them an understanding of their life story to date.

·         Completing visits to children and families within the guidelines of the Departments policies and procedures and ensure these are recorded promptly. 

·         Undertaking extensive searches, using theory and research to identify adopters best suited to meet children’s individual needs.

·         Engaging in a variety of recruitment and family finding opportunities and undertaking this work in a timely way avoiding delay.

·         Working alongside children’s social workers to promote early permanence planning and best outcomes for looked after children.

·         You will be able to advise and offer training in relation to adoption matters to Managers, Social Workers and colleagues.

About You

We are looking for:

·         a qualified social worker, registered with SWE

·         Someone with a full UK driving license as this role is for essential car users and involves some travel.

·         Someone enthusiastic in achieving permanence for children through the process of adoption.

·         Someone who is able to advise and offer training in relation to adoption matters to Managers, Social Workers and colleagues.

Adoption experience is desirable but not essential.
