Location: Basildon

Starting in April/May 2024 an exciting opportunity has arisen to join ACL Essex. ACL are graded as 'Good' by Ofsted in 2023.

This is a Part Time, permanent contract. The hours will vary depending on demand but will include at least one evening and will be discussed at the interview.

The salary will be £28,432 as a full time equivalent, pro rata for part time and is equal to an hourly rate of £14.74 per hour. This role is being offered as a sessional contract where you are paid per session worked.

The Role

Adult Community Learning are looking for a passionate individual to teach woodworking courses. The role will include using both contemporary and traditional carpentry techniques. Subjects will include a broad scope from all the basics in the safe use of tools and equipment to exploring design concepts to identify suitable resources and styles to complete craft projects. The woodworking tutor will be required to design, plan, deliver and evaluate high quality learning opportunities and experiences for learners in response to their identified needs.

  • Contribute to organisational development and quality improvement through collaboration with others
  • To initially assess learners' starting points and monitor their progress, set challenging tasks and objectives, and build on and extend learning for all learners.
  • To support learners to develop personal, social and employability skills in order for them to progress into further learning or jobs that meet local and national needs.

The Experience You Will Bring:

  • Nationally recognised teaching qualification or teaching / training experience and subject specialism equivalent.
  • A good knowledge of accreditation at Level 1 and 2
  • A good knowledge of the RARPA process (recognising and recording learner progress and achievement in non-accredited courses) is preferred.
  • Competent user of ICT
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and raise aspirations of learners through your enthusiasm and knowledge
  • Good understanding of social and cultural diversity, equality of opportunity and inclusion and safeguarding
  • Minimum of Level 2 in English and maths
