East Riding of Yorkshire Council
Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire
£37336 - £40221
Closing date
21 Apr 2024

Closing date: 21 April 2024

We seek an enthusiastic and skilled individual to join the council’s busy Planning Service working within the Highway Development Management Team.

You will primarily deal with highway aspects of major planning applications assessing agreements, transport assessments and statements and highway design submissions and carry out site visits.  Additional responsibilities include delivering professional technical advice in relation to all aspects of highway development management through the planning process from construction to the completion of the adoption process.  You will also deputise for the Team Leader when required.

This is a key role and you will hold appropriate qualifications and have experience of highway engineering or related areas.  In return we can offer a supportive environment and a forward-looking team, always looking for new ways to improve our service.

We are part of the National Design Code pilot and we are embracing the opportunities of digital planning in our service transformation.  We offer a modern working environment and believe in supporting people to develop and offer excellent training opportunities, both in house and with our partners for highway/planning related subjects as well as management and leadership.  We also support chartered and aspiring members of the IHE/ICE with paid professional subscriptions and access to regular CPD.

We cover a large area from York to Hull and the Yorkshire coast which includes wide rural areas, affluent market towns, large regional employment sites, regeneration areas and nationally and internationally recognised landscapes.  This means that we can offer a very varied and interesting workload for transport planners, whether an established Principal Officer looking for a new challenge or an individual looking to progress your career to this level.

The council and planning department are based in the centre of the beautiful market town of Beverley, (named as one of the top ten places to live in the north of England by the Sunday Times), with outstanding schools, attractive housing, spectacular Minster and Westwood and with a vibrant town centre.

We operate blended working with a mix of office and home working and flexible working hours.
Benefits include the generous Local Government Pension Scheme and holiday allowance, paid professional subscriptions, support for CPD and other training opportunities together with discounted gym membership. We may also be able to offer a relocation package.

We look forward to hearing from you if you feel that you could be the right fit for our team.

Hours: 37 per week as part of a full-time, permanent contract.
