Job Details

We are looking for someone to help lead the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) agenda in our new council, building on our recently agreed EDI statement and action plan. You will be instrumental in supporting us to really live our values as an inclusive and caring council.

About the role:

As part of the corporate policy team, you will work across the council’s diverse services to co-ordinate, support, challenge and advise on EDI related matters. You will help ensure that we meet both our legal and moral duties to tackle discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations between diverse communities.

As well as expert knowledge and experience related to EDI, you will need the organisational and influencing skills to drive change across a large organisation. You will bring people together to deliver against this shared agenda, improving our understanding of people’s needs, advising on how we design and deliver services, supporting our communications and customer services, building our relationships with external groups, and monitoring and reporting on our progress and performance.

For the right person this is an exciting opportunity to make your mark and really shape how our young council develops and grows.

For an informal chat about the role or for further information please contact Kieran Barr, Interim Senior Service Manager – Policy & Performance on 07500 066520 or kieran.barr@westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk
