Strategic Director

East Suffolk Council
£109,108 - £112,322 per annum + benefits
Closing date
28 Jun 2024

We are delighted to offer an opportunity to join our Corporate Leadership Team as a Strategic Director.

As one of three Strategic Directors reporting to the Chief Executive, you will help us continue to progress our ambitious plans; providing vision, direction and strategic leadership, with a focus on Corporate Resources, including HR, Asset Management (involving the council's commissioning relationship with its wholly owned company), Procurement, Legal, Digital and Customer Services. You will be responsible for these key services and more, as well as the delivery of important projects and programmes which contribute to the council’s corporate priorities.

You will work with a range of partners and stakeholders at a local, sub-regional and national level to promote and advance the council’s objectives and be a trusted source of strategic advice to elected members of the council. You will be confident in managing complex and challenging environments and workload in a political environment and you will also have high-level relationship management skills, with a real determination to embrace the opportunities and challenges ahead.

East Suffolk is the largest district council in the country by population; a modern and progressive organisation, with a track record of delivery. Our vision is clear and set out in our strategic plan, ‘Our Direction 2028’. Our aim is to promote a bright, green, open, free and fair future for all East Suffolk, with a focus on Tackling Inequalities, Sustainable Housing, Environmental Impact and a Thriving Economy.

In delivering this plan, we recognise that solid foundations are critically important to any successful local authority at this time and from a strong base, we will continue to provide excellent value for money services for our residents.
