We are seeking a Specialist Wheelchair Therapist to enhance the quality and effectiveness of our Provision Services Team.
What will be expected from me?
You will be responsible for delivering performance requirements as set out in the agreed service specification and national performance indicators set out in the National Wheelchair Managers Forum’s guidance for NHS Commissioned Wheelchair Services.
What would I be doing?
- The role will involve direct patient contact.
- You will provide specialist assessment and intervention for a complex caseload demonstrating advanced clinical reasoning
- You will be responsible for the clinical leadership of the wheelchair and special seating service and will be the direct line manager for a number of posts within the team.
- You will act in a sensitive and collaborative manner with clients and carers to facilitate improved patient outcomes and ensure client centred practice.
- Ensure any additional needs identified through assessment outside the scope of the wheelchair service are referred to the appropriate professional, service or department.
Essential requirements:
- BSc Hons. in Occupational Therapy, BSc COT/Dip. COT, BSc Physiotherapy.
- Requirement to maintain HCPC registration/ Member of appropriate professional body e.g. the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy / College of Occupational Therapists
- You will need a strong understanding and specialist knowledge in anatomy and physiology to underpin relevant clinical skills
- Demonstrable experience of managing and prioritising complex clinical caseloads/ Experience of carrying out complex postural assessments.
- Ability to handle heavy (25kg+) equipment, using specialist lifting equipment where required.
