Nottinghamshire County Council’s is seeking to recruit a Principal Officer to join its Highways Contract Management Team.

The successful applicant will assist in overseeing the County Council’s Highways Capital Programme (circa £20,000,000), Highways Revenue Programme (circa £19,000,000) and other ad-hoc major projects which may occur from time to time.

This role offers a varied and interesting workload which includes:

  • Inspecting works on site
  • Producing site diary sheets to record observations
  • Communicating with elected members & the public
  • Ensuring works have been completed to the correct specification
  • Identifying defective works & instructing remedial actions
  • Monitoring & reporting upon programmes of work
  • Issuing early warnings
  • Undertaking open book costing.

You will be working with Via EM Ltd. – the County Council’s own highways contractor – on a daily basis so a commitment to collaborative working and collective problem solving is essential.

Although Highways experience is preferred, applicants with appropriate transferable skills will also be considered. A hybrid working arrangement is available with this role.
