Keeping residents safe, secure, and comfortable in their Temporary Accommodation homes.
In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient.
We want to give everyone a great quality of life, with access to a comfortable home, sustainable and desirable employment options, and the chance to live and work in a healthy and safe environment. And our Housing Needs department plays a vital part in achieving these goals.
The Role:
Joining our integrated and highly experienced team, you’ll help improve the efficiency and overall success of our Temporary Accommodation and Resettlement department through effective contract monitoring.
You will be putting residents first and supporting them in Temporary Accommodation when they experience repair and other property issues.
It’s all about working closely with our Temporary Accommodation Managing Agents to ensure that our accommodation portfolio stays safe, secure and in good condition for households in housing need, then following up with effective contract monitoring. On top of your core duties, you’ll implement impactful operational plans that fit with our wider strategy as a council. You’ll also investigate and manage complaints and identify and monitor remedial actions aiming to deliver the best service to our residents.
You’ll be joining us at an exciting period following the restructure of our department — we’ve introduced totally new ways of working, but we want to keep innovating and achieve even more. On top of this, you’ll be able to take advantage of extensive training opportunities, including specialist property training.

About You:
We’re looking for solid experience in housing or property. This includes experience in contract management, repair management and complaint handling as well as working with landlords or letting agents. You’ll be able to confidently handle a demanding workload and communicate effectively with excellent written skills. A good knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and the private rented sector is important.
You’ll also need to be energetic, enthusiastic and resourceful, with a genuine passion for property. Ideally, you’ll be qualified to carry out property inspections under the Housing Health and Safety Rating system, but this isn’t essential.
In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent learning and development opportunities.
