An exciting opportunity for a Transport Infrastructure Technician has arisen. We are looking for an individual with an enthusiastic and flexible “can do” approach to work. You will be expected to work under your own initiative, to work equally as part of a team or individually. We would like someone who has a willingness to improve their personal development, with Durham County Council supporting the successful candidate to further development opportunities.
The Parking and Transport Infrastructure team manages, and is responsible for, the 5 bus stations, 3 park and ride sites and multi storey car parks, surface level car parks and on street parking bays ensuring the locations are operational and compliant.
You will join the award winning Parking and Transport Infrastructure team, who have won a national award at the British Parking Awards in 2023 for ‘Outstanding Car Park Operator’ and in 2024 for ‘The Back Office Award’
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
You will be the primary officer responsible for the management of moving traffic enforcement sites and will be a key figure in determining and implementing future enforcement cameras.
You will also play a key role in the delivery of the Durham Park and Ride service, including liaising with site and bus contractors, managing complaints and procedures, and analysing data to ensure the service is running effectively and in line with contractual obligations.
You will be responsible for the management of car park booking systems as well as the ongoing maintenance of the associated car parking infrastructure and ANPR systems installed at Durham County Council sites.
You will also assist the wider Parking and Transport Infrastructure team with associated technical duties.
We encourage you to contact Peter Broxton, Parking & Infrastructure Team Leader via email at peter.broxton@durham.gov.uk to arrange an informal discussion about the role.
WHAT WILL I NEED?
You will need a Level 3 Qualification in a relevant discipline and be willing to work towards a level 4.
Experience in dealing with members of the public and other key stakeholders and experience at an appropriate level in highways, traffic, transport or parking management.
