You will primarily work within a specialist or area-based team within the Community Protection Service.
 
You will will undertake a range of duties and responsibilities commensurate with qualifications and experience to ensure the health and welfare of farmed and other livestock and to protect human health.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need the following for the Trainee Animal Health Officer (Grade 5):-
2 A Levels or Level 3 equivalent qualification.
5 GCSEs at Grades A*-C/9-4 including Maths and English or hold an equivalent and relevant qualification.
Ability to achieve the Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer Apprenticeship. 

You will need the following for a Regulatory Compliance Officer- Animal Health (Grade 6):-
Be studying towards Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer qualification; and Competency in 1 or 2 units of the Combined Technical Standard. 

You will need the following for a Senior Regulatory Compliance Officer – Animal Health (Grade 7):- 
Be studying towards Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer qualification; and      Hold 3 or more units of the Combined Technical Standard
 
You will need the following for a Animal Health Inspector (Grade 8):-
Educated to degree or equivalent or;
BTEC (Level 4) Regulatory Compliance or other related subject or;
Substantial experience in a regulatory role 

You will need the following for a Senior Animal health Inspector Officer (Grade 9):-
Relevant Degree or equivalent in relevant field or substantial experience in a regulatory role and;
Technical Skills and Competency in 1 or 2 fields of the Regulatory Professional  (TS) Technical Expertise Standards or;
BTEC (Level 7) Law & Investigative practice 

You will need the following for a Principal Animal Health Inspector (Grade 10 ):-
Relevant Degree or equivalent in relevant field or substantial experience in a regulatory role and;
Technical Skills and Competency in the 3 or more fields of the Regulatory Professional Technical (TS) Expertise Standards

HYBRID WORKING
Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
