Then we have an opportunity for you. Our Business Support Officer plays a key role in ensuring the Housing Enforcement Team are equipped with the necessary information and support to carry out our legal duties in relation to the private rented sector, including houses in multiple occupation and selective licensing.   

Duties include:  

  • The accurate inputting of complaint and referral information onto our database for allocation to the investigating officers,
  • Taking payments/ issuing refunds in relation to housing licensing,
  • Liaison with residents, customers and partners.
  • Maintenance of online register of housing licenses,
  • Taking and distributing meeting minutes/agendas,
  • Monitoring and actioning multiple email inboxes to ensure an efficient and consistent service.   

What can you bring to the role? A self-motivated can-do attitude, attention to detail and accuracy, patience and good communication skills in order to liaise with residents and customers of varying ethnicities and backgrounds, and a drive to work as part of an active team.   

The Housing Enforcement function is varied, and no two days are the same. Jobs vary from those that take time to those emergencies where it is all hands to the deck. We strive to improve the standards within the private rented sector. We are a supportive team which sits within the larger Enforcement Team, dealing with all environmental crime, nuisance, pollution control, planning enforcement and parking enforcement.
